Perfect World Entertainment, Inc. and Cryptic Studios announced the latest expansion for the hit MMORPG Neverwinter, Storm King’s Thunder. This is the 10th expansion of the best Dungeons & Dragons-based online game and no doubt will not be the last.
Neverwinter: Storm King’s Thunder will be available in August of 2016 for the PC and later for Xbox One and PlayStation® 4. It will be based on the upcoming storyline from Wizards of the Coast that tells the story about the rise of giants in the world of Forgotten Realms.
Just like its tabletop D&D counterpart, players will be able to join the adventures of known characters like Cattibrie, Wulfgar, and Harshnag, as they solve the mystery of the frost giants in the region of Sword Coast. In addition, this expansion will also introduce a new tier of dungeon and additional high level equipment for adventurers looking to gather the latest gear.
The yearly updates from Dungeons & Dragons provide us with a huge opportunity to build unique stories in Neverwinter, said Rob Overmeyer, executive producer of Neverwinter.
We’ve been discussing the idea of giants returning to the Sword Coast with the team at Wizards of the Coast for quite some time. Adventurers will have several large changes coming their way when we launch Storm King’s Thunder on PC later this year.
