After more than a year of waiting since MU Legend was revealed by Webzen, the sequel-prequel to the ever-popular MU Online has gone open beta! It marks the culmination of a year long journey with two closed beta tests and one stress test, as Webzen prepares to bring MU Legend to the public.
Launching a game is always a high-stakes moment to live through, where hundreds of emotions collide. Here, in the OBT backstage, I am witnessing – let me put it like this – an exotic diversity of exhilarated states of mind. The chills of enthusiasm are making hairs stand on end, adding a frenetic edge to the usual finger-tapping rhythm – still not missing a beat – and hearts are hammering faster than usual, said Dennis Czybulka, COO at Webzen Dublin.
The fun starts for the fans, and our attention is focused entirely on making their game experience the most unforgettable yet, he added.
Q: Will there be a player-wipe?
According to the MU Legend team, there will be no player-wipe this time. All characters, items acquired, and progression, will be retained when the game launches commercially. Players are encouraged to explore the deep content offered by the game.
We’re excited for players to experience first-hand the passion that we’ve put into MU Legend and look forward to seeing them all in-game.
Webzen has also noted that the MU Legend team is already working on future expansions to the game. As the first update and extension to the game, a 3v3-combat feature will arrive before the end of the year. When this content and feature update goes live, players will have to strategize and build their teams to win in a dynamic PvP environment. Webzen also hinted that territory wars will come in the future, and this no doubt will involve guilds.
Rewards for CBT
Players who participated in the closed-beta tests and the stress test will also receive their special titles. Accounts that played through the previous tests can expect their titles on the 14th of November 2017.
To all the fans of MU Legend and the MU franchise, the teams has this message for you.
It would have been almost impossible to carry the MU Legend dream this far — more than a decade after the launch of MU Online — without the support of the fans. We’d like to express our warmest thanks to all our players who’ve continued to have faith in this dream, and we hope that they’ll enjoy the game as much as we’ve enjoyed developing it.
